Branford High School Beta Club Shines at 83rd Annual State Convention

The Branford High School (BHS) Beta Club traveled to Orlando, Florida, the weekend of January 17 to participate in the 83rd annual state convention.  Thirty members from the club competed in a variety of events, including academic tests, speech, performing dance routines, engineering, living literature, art, and cake decorating.

An impressive 25 out of the 30 students placed in the top three in their respective categories.  Additionally, BHS made history, as Jon Weisner was elected Florida State Beta President, becoming the first-ever state Beta president from the club and school.

These 25 outstanding students will now have the opportunity to attend the national convention this June, once again in Orlando, to compete alongside peers from across the nation.  Jon Weisner will also have the chance to run for national Beta president, representing Branford and Florida on a national stage.

We are incredibly proud of our students for their hard work, talent and dedication.  BHS Beta Club sponsor, Lindsey Ramsey, says, “Thank you to the district for allowing my club and my students to participate in this amazing opportunity to build their character and learn to lead by serving others.”
